CURRENT EVENTS

April 20, 2019: Amy Perl Photography at Marin Country Mart’s Farmer’s Market

April 20, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94937

Amy Perl is a California native who, from an early age, has had a keen interest in objects that hold a sense of history. This fascination with history later extended to people, and in particular the family histories of her own family and others’. As her eye for photography developed as an early teen, Amy was naturally drawn to documenting the forgotten histories imbued within junkyards, abandoned houses, and lost and found objects.

Amy’s photography celebrates nature, road-tripping and nostalgia in her imagery.  Her work truly captures the spirit of the Artstream – come take a peak and take some of the spirit home with you!

May 7, 2019: Ethan Okamura’s Ocean Photography at Mill Valley’s “First Tuesday Art Walk”

May 7, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Downtown Plaza, Mill Valley, CA 94941

The Artstream will make its debut appearance in the “First Tuesday’s Art Walk” in downtown Mill Valley on May 7th.  I will feature the work of Ethan Okamura who, like me, grew up locally and we are honored and thrilled to be showing in our home town.

Ethan has a very unique perspective in his ocean photography.  In fact, you could say that he’s turning the perspective on its head, literally.  With a new set of photographs called “Tide Pool Perspectives”, he challenges our brains to look at tide pools and their reflections in a completely different way.  Come enjoy this new set of photographs along with other unique “moments in time” of the ocean.

The artboxes will be shown throughout the Bay Area in the first three weeks of April and the full exhibition opens at Rare Device, SF, on April 26 2019.

March 9, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

2257 Larkspur Landing Circle, Larkspur, CA 94939

The Artstream will be appearing at Marin Countrymart on the second Saturday of every month in 2019.  I will feature a different artists’ work every month bringing you some of my favorite local beauty.

This month the featured artist is Lisa Anderson Shaffer, author and photographer of “These Three Things”.  “These Three Things” is the result of Lisa’s commitment to reconnect with her curiosity and imagination – something she felt had disappeared in the midst of disconcerting events in the world over the last couple years.  She created a daily ritual for herself to reflect on three lessons she had learned that she knew to be true, despite what was going on in the world. She paired her writing with a practice of photographing three things she found in the natural environment, or heirloom tools and other sentimental keepsakes.  She posted her writing and photography through social media and the result was deeply moving…many others shared that they felt similarly and joined in the practice of posting their own “three things”.

Shaffer’s fine art photography of “These Three Things” evokes a reflective mood of appreciation: appreciation of nature, of those who “make” with their hands, of nostalgia, of creativity.  Please join Melanie Victor-Smith, owner of the Artstream, to view Lisa’s inspiring photography and her daily journal available for purchase.
