Artist's Statement
The work that I have been doing recently has been developed from my two-dimensional pieces which were originally based on the idea of repeat pattern.

In the three-dimensional work, I start with a simple form and then look at what effect the shape, size and placement of the cuts has on each piece. I consider how the feeling of volume, the relationship between width and height, and also the contrast between soft and hard edges all play a part in the end result.

The glaze is also important in my work, as both the application and colour are used to enhance and intensify certain qualities in each piece.
