These works are dedicated to my maternal grandfather, Hyman Cohen, a self-taught sheet-metal artisan from whom, I suspect, I inherited my love of making things; to my parents, Jack and Blanche Slovic, who taught me an appreciation of art; and to my wife, Yasue, who frequently provides a necessary balance to my sometimes less-than-perfect aesthetic judgment.
Finally, I wish to give special thanks to Sasson Soffer, Sculptor and Artist, living in New York City. I am greatly indebted to him for innumerable "lessons", which have helped me in my creative pursuits. These lessons were conveyed not in so many words, but in the process of silent observation of an artist fully engaged in life, and one for whom Life and Art are one and the same, a single integration.
