The artstream site has been designed with functionality in mind. We have tried to keep distractions to a minimum. Can an Internet site become a quiet and contemplative oasis where no one will interrupt a train of thought or the personal and emotional pleasure of viewing art works? We are pleased to have you here if you can spare us a little time. These surroundings can be used as a stopping off place in a busy day. But we will not behave like possessive parents. Come and go as you please! You will always be welcome back again. This place is testimony to the belief that the viewer is as important as the artist. We wish to welcome you in - even hold your hand - but then leave you to explore in your own way. We hope that you will feel safe here and wish to come back. Thank you for being our viewer. Art cannot exist without the viewer. |
| artquote for this week: 'I think the experience of looking at a painting is different from the experience of planning a painting or of painting a painting. And I think the statements one makes about a finished work are different from the statements one can make about the experience of making it.' Jasper Johns, 1965. |
