The shovel is a favourite object of mine being a rigid equivalent of a hand and arm as well as being an extension of it. I have made several pieces in the past including it.
This year I have made a series of five pieces using the shovel. In this first piece after removing the shovel I flattened it completely. The result is to deny the rigidity of the shovel and it becomes a sort of 'ghost'.
