'Tropism' is the movement in plants governed by an external stimulus. My paintings evolve over time. They are an accumulation of ideas layers of paint mistakes and remaking in an intuitive struggle to achieve what I feel is 'right'. I wanted to create a calm surface with just a suggestion of the struggle underneath and a single stem-like image on another plane pushing out.
